In 2008, RFIDEA was called upon to deploy an innovative yet secure solution to greet and control the access of all the visitors to the 2008 Belgium F1 Grand Prix.
The Challenge:
- Organizers of the F1 championship required a solution that could control the access of more than 100,000 spectators
- There were more than 80 access points at the venue, Spa Francorchamps, and 50 different access types a spectator could possess
The Solution:
- RFIDEA implemented real-time management with RFID tags integrated into the tickets
- Psion provided rugged yet lightweight and ergonomic handheld computers to scan tickets
- Security scanned tickets with Psion ’ WORKABOUT PRO with HF RFID Reader
- WORKABOUT PRO with HF RFID Reader communicates directly with central server database to determine spectators’ type of access
