SCA Packaging is a leader in customer-specific packaging solutions with an emphasis on leading-edge design. With a product portfolio that includes transit packaging, consumer packaging and displays and promotional packaging, customized protective packaging, industrial packaging and heavy duty, SCA Packaging is Europe’s second largest producer of containerboard paper used for the manufacturing of corrugated board and boasts annual revenues of 11.4 billion Euros (US$15.8 billion).
The Challenge:
- SCA Packaging’s 19 locations in Denmark were running a different system and platform, and some locations were still operating largely with paper and pencils instead of a modern computer system.
- It was time to standardize and modernize operations.
The Solution:
- Psion Teklogix worked in collaboration with SAP consulting firm AICOMP to design a mobile computing solution that would work with SCA’s SAP system and give SCA Packaging the operations improvements it needed.
- Psion Teklogix provided mobile handheld computers, as well as vehicle mount computers. The solution covers the entire operation from receipt of materials, production, storage, warehouse logistics, outbound shipments and delivery.
- The individual applications use SAP programming language on Psion Teklogix middleware for the mobile computers.
- Instructions can be downloaded from the SAP system directly to the handheld or vehicle mount computer. The mobile computers are used to scan a product or pallet and the information is uploaded to the central server via secure WiFi networks.
